IN MY OPINION THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT VIDEOS YOU SHOULD WATCH! SOCIALIZE, SOCIALIZE, SOCIALIZE....PLEASE! If your puppy becomes reactive to people, dogs, things, you need to SOCIALIZE MORE, MORE, MORE. This video is a little long but talks about the importance of socialization, WHAT SOCIALIZATION really is and why you need to do it even during the time your puppy is not fully vaccinated (in controlled environments)! Controlled environments means not at dog parks, not in places you know strays wonder etc. By the time your puppy has had his second vaccination you will want to expand even more on where you take your puppy to get this very important socialization. If you are having difficulty with exposure to new things there are great ideas here on how to tackle those things. Yes, socialization is work but, it also is a fun learning & bonding time for you and your puppy. The world is new to your puppy and it is your job to expose him to the world, while he is young. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO WATCH THIS VIDEO and refer back to it as needed.
HOW TO STOP PUPPY BITING AND MOUTHING VIDEO BELOW
PUPPY AGGRESSION PROBLEMS - TYPICALLY NOT AGGRESSION BUT FEAR!! How to correct. If you are here, you must also Go above and watch the SOCIALIZATION Video again! Although this trainer does not like prong collars it really isn't about the collar itself, it is that it is not being used correctly! Notice in the video that the owner is constantly pulling on the leash. The collar is not properly fitted and she is not using it properly. Otherwise, this is a great video!
HOW TO READ DOG BODY LANGUAGE AND REACTIVITY to other dogs, people and things. It's the same concept for other dogs as it would be for anything else in their environment that they might fear. If you are here, go back up and watch SOCIALIZATION Again!
TYPES OF PRONG COLLARS AND PROPER FITTING PRONG COLLARS When used PROPERLY these are an amazing tool! Learn correction timing so you communicate correctly using this tool.

NEED A TRAINER?
Good sound breeding with sound temperament is where to begin but there is so much more......Basic obedience training is an essential part of responsible dog ownership. It will make your dog a better companion and will help establish a stronger bond between you and your dog. Your German Shepherd dog wants nothing more from life than to please you. Therefore, it is your responsibility to train this faithful companion to do as you wish. Training classes in obedience are available in most cities.
We have no financial affiliation with the trainers below. These are people in our local area that we recommend because we believe in their training practices & positive reinforcement training. As one of the most popular breeds in the country, you will find that the German Shepherd Dog is well respected for it's versatility. Central Coast German Shepherds Basic Obedience Puppy Training. This video will show you some of the basic commands we use and how we use them so when you take your puppy home after staying with us for the Basic Obedience Training (on Leash) you will be able to continue reinforcing the skills they have learned here with us. If you do not work on these skills daily through your regular routines, your puppy will forget so, please continue to use the skills he has learned so they become life long habits for your puppy. Your effort of taking the time to make your puppy sit and wait EVERY time you open the door to take him outside and again when you bring him inside builds respect between you and your puppy and creates good habits for life! This is only one of the Basic tools we give you in the video. I hope you find this video helpful.
