Pet Kennel for travel home with your new puppy.
This Pet Kennel is ideal for picking up your new puppy at 8 weeks old and traveling home in the car if the large Precision Crate (below) that we recommend for home is too large for your vehicle. It can be found at Walmart in the pet department or on their website. It is their small/medium size and measures 26.2 X 18.6 X 16.5 and fits puppies from 15 - 25lbs. At 8 weeks old our puppies are typically around 14 - 18lbs.
Precision Pet by Petmate 2 Door Crate - We use the Large 42 X 28 X 30 Females or Extra Large 48 X 30 X 32 Males. They come with a divider to use while your puppy is small and you simply move the divider as they grow. If the crate is too large, they will potty in their crate. This is why the divider is important while they are a puppy. You will find cheaper cates but the Precision is the stronger option and for our German Shepherds, we prefer the Precision Brand. We also like the two door but not the door on top (as pictured). The door on top is best for smaller breeds.

Have a variety of toys. Your dog/puppy will get bored with the same toys or may not have interest in a
specific toy at first but, if you take them away for awhile and exchange them for different ones, when you give them back it will be like a new toy!

PLEASE Do Not use Harnesses! Harnesses are designed for pulling. In addition, your puppies bones are soft and growing and harnesses can effect their proper growth!
BEST TRAINING COLLARS: These collars are great for puppies 5 plus months old. I prefer to wait on these until they are at their full growth due to the cost of these collars. Please watch the below video to determine if this is the best collar for you. When used properly it is an amazing training tool!

Petsafe Auto Feeder ~ We use these when we will be gone all day and will miss a feeding. These are controlled by a timer or through bluetooth from your phone. The App on your phone will let you know when your pet has been fed if set up on autofeeding or simply press the feed button in your app and the food will dispense from wherever you are (as long as you have wifi). We never miss a feeding because life happens! Not intended for everyday use. Your puppy needs your human interaction when feeding. Not ALL but a couple of our German Shepherds are extremely smart and have figured out how to manually dispense the food. We have outsmarted them! If your puppy thinks he can outsmart you, pick up a small nightstand from a yard sale or craigslist. Cut a slot in the bottom of the nightstand and put the feeder in the nightstand and the bowl extending out through the slot you have cut in the bottom of the nightstand, walah, can't get to the controller or to the lid. Love these feeders for the occasion when we can't be there on time to feed our dog.

We use high quality Stainless Steel bowls for feeding and water. They are the most sanitary. Plastic bowls scratch easily and harbor bacteria. This is a fantastic bowl for inside your home in the event you have a sloppy drinker. Many of our german shepherds play in their water or are just plain sloppy drinkers and dribble water all over the floor. This bowl limits spills. This bowl is also great for in the car! It holds a full gallon of water. Be sure to order the LARGE bowl for your German Shepherd Puppy, they grow fast and he is already used to using it!

Walking Harnesses are not Car Safety Certified! This is one of the BEST safety Harnesses on the market, per the reviews. We recommend a crate however, if you must drive without the use of a crate this is the harness that I would recommend & we use ourselves. Be sure to purchase a Large for your puppy! He will grow into it very quickly.

Don't let your puppy jump in and out of your car or truck. While their bones are soft this would cause joint problems that lead to Hip and Elbow Displaysia!

Drymate Playpen Pads and washable Puppy Pee Pads are great for in the playpen. They are not used as a place for your puppy to potty but offer some floor protection in the event of an accident. A remnant sheet of vinyl from the hardware store works great below the playpen to protect your floors for an accident as well.
